  • Mr. Manchester gave $125,000 contribution to “Yes on 8” campaign.
  • After passage, the gay community focused its anger at Mr. Manchester, and others, by initiating a well organized boycott and negative press generating campaign.
  • Local union, Unite Here, sensing a vulnerability, latched onto this opportunity to press for unionization of the property, bringing up old and baseless charges about Room Attendants.
  • Unite Here initiated an aggressive proactive campaign to divert existing convention business.
  • Activists have ignored Hyatt’s strong and lengthy history of diversity, equality and support for the gay and lesbian community in order to go after Mr. Manchester and Manchester Grand Hyatt.
